Katie McDonald - Katie McDonald

Katie McDonald is a British zoologist who spends most of her time in Malaysia. After a variety of jobs including nine years working in both boarding and breeding kennels and catteries, several years slaving in a supermarket, and 6 months packing salads in a factory, she discovered Borneo, rainforests and orang-utans.

Since then her career has been spent in the field of orang-utan conservation, where her varied work as a charity liaison officer, tour leader and orang-utan researcher have put her on the frontline between species, habitats and human factors. Her current role as a conservation educator allows her to communicate the complex issues facing our planet to a wider audience, and particularly to reach out to the younger generation and instil a sense of guardianship over the natural world.
